No Intel-based OS X version of CS until CS3? – The Unofficial Photoshop Weblog
It was the opinion of the Photoshop TV guys that Adobe might not offer any kind of update/upgrade of CS or CS2 until Adobe releases a truly new version – CS3 – for which there is no present ETA. I honestly hope this is not the case, and that they take some sort of route like Apple has with their pro apps in offering a $50 Intel-based upgrade, as long as you turn in your discs.

portmanager was removed from FreeBSD -CURRENT ports tree
I cvsup’ed the ports tree on my client’s new server and did a ‘portmanager -u’, :lol:, it deleted itself! I’ve used portupgrade for years but the latest FreeBSD Handbook mentioned portmanager. I tried and liked it. Oh well…

iMac’s still Broadcom-inside
From this teardown of the Intel-inside iMac, it contains a Broadcom PCIX wifi chipset. And according to this press release, the BCM4311 supports 802.11a/g. So I guess these rumors were not exactly true, at least not for the iMac, we will have to wait for somebody to take apart a MacBook Pro to find out what’s in those… well, the time will come… 🙂
Don’t get a MacBook Pro (just yet) if you’re gonna use it for Photoshop
Check out these benchmarks. As expected, running (or rather, emulating) Photoshop with Rosetta is slow as shit. Like I told my friend Ming when he told me he was getting a MacBook Pro, if you are getting one to do Photoshop primarily, you should wait until Adobe releases a native version of PS CS2 for the Intel-based Macs, only until then we would be able to see benchmarks and decide if it makes more sense to get a Mac or a PC.
If you want a MacBook Pro because of OS X, the iApps, or anything other than for Adobe apps, then go ahead. 🙂

Apple MacBook Pro Preview and a Value Proposition for Buying It
A lot of idiots asserted that “Macs are overpriced”, I usually don’t care enough to argue with them coz there is no point and I have better stuff to do with my time and energy. But when asked by some of my acquaintances, I would try (briefly) to explain that if you compared apples to apples Macs are actually quite reasonably priced. (if they kept arguing I would usually drop it coz there is no point convincing them. I’m a shareholder but a very small one, unfortunately.)
Previously PCs and Macs actually shared very similar hardwares, but it was still hard to compare performance without getting into benchmarks. Now with Intel inside we can compare them easier, and notebookreview.com compiled a pretty good table. As expected the MacBook Pro is pretty damn competitively-priced. Check out this link:

Jobs also owns 60 million shares of his “other” company, Pixar. His 50.1 percent stake in the company, which is worth about $3.4 billion now, has increased in value by 20 percent or more each of the past five years, according to the report.
