Wi-Fi Networking News: Apple Switches to Atheros:
In the latest Apple products, the first to be based on Intel processors using the Core Duo chips, sources outside of Apple tell me that Atheros chips have been incorporated. The MacBook Pro (the PowerBook replacement) and the Intel-based iMac support 802.11a for the first time, as well. Apple isn?t emphasizing the 802.11a inclusion, and the technical specifications only say ?802.11g standard.?
Surprisingly the new Intel Macs have 802.11a support, I wonder who’s a/b/g chip they’re using…

Innovation Errors: Case study: Creative Zen.
Presumably, the name was chosen to reflect the “zen” of the iPod. Except Creative’s brand guys forgot something fairly obvious: that calling something “zen”, well, kind of defeats the entire point.
Nice, except it doesn’t have FireWire Extreme, but maybe the speed hike in everything else would offset the difference between FW400 and FW800 when I edit pics off my Lacie external HDD.
I’ll wait at least until PS CS2 comes out in x86-mac to upgrade, but I should really wait til second-gen to get one…

F’king microwaves, my WiFi drops like once every 5 minutes… Stainless appliances look nice but they leak like crazy… My D-Link thing from Amazon (what a deal for $21 after MIR!) should be here early next week and I’ll go old school and use ethernet, at least when I’m in the study…
