Damn! Color me impressed! If this thing is good enough to reveal compression artifacts, I’ll probably be getting one! my pod is Apple Lossless, and my current solution; iTunes over ethernet to Airport Express, and optical to Toslink input of my Onkyo receiver and to my HTIB speakers, doesn’t really sound all that good. Well, for $400 at Fry’s the HTIB system is good enough for movies, but definitely not good enough for music. I guess the fact that I’ve accustomed to how the tracks sound with my Sensaphonics IEMs doesn’t help…

iPod Hi-Fi, and new leather case

No surprises from the 2/28 event, I’m curious to hear how the iPod Hi-Fi sounds like, for $350, which makes this thing less expensive than most in-ear-monitors, it is most likely not truly “Hi-Fi”, but it still does cost quite a bit more than the other solutions, and it has an optical input for the Airport Express! I will def go audition one of these at a store.

They also announced the above leather iPod case. For $99, and it’s just a leather version of the included pouch? Looks like a snug fit so taking the iPod in and out of this thing will probably remove my Martin Fields Overlay Plus and might even mess up the InvisibleShield on the backplate.btw, my Orbino case is still not here!!

… and it is even slower in Safari… Took me around 40 minutes to f’king file my taxes… well, at least I don’t have to pay taxes this year, I guess I would’ve had to pay had I not moved to California… 😀 Well, you lose either way when you work for ppl… I got my effective tax rate down to around 18%, not too bad I guess… heh…

For those who are still procrastinating on doing your taxes (well, if you’ve done it and found out you have to pay, then yeah, pay as late as possible, maybe even file an extension or 2), don’t forget to include your donations (like to Katrina, your clothes to Goodwill, Wikipedia, your alma mater), moving expenses, and SALES TAX!! I don’t think the sales tax did much to my bottom line though…

Slingbox

If SlingPlayer worked on a Mac, I would definitely get a Slingbox… I saw SlingPlayer in action at a coworker’s PC and it’s pretty darn cool!! I would definitely have to upgrade my HDD in my TiVo if I get a Slingbox though… heh…

Actually, I don’t see why TiVo can’t add better place-shifting features into the TiVo box itself. TiVoToGo isn’t good enough, it just downloads the content, but Slingbox allows streaming live content also, which definitely is cool. It should be relatively easy for TiVo to implement, my TiVo is already connected to the Internet via broadband. I guess TiVo mistakenly thought the DVR is the only thing a TiVo box should do, and they forgot to add cool innovations like Sling into their boxes… Now Sling probably got quite a large patent portfolio built up and TiVo would have to license it…
