Jove in EE Times

Jove in EE Times

EE Times ran an article on Jove, Newisys’ Java verification project that was open sourced recently… Here’s a couple of quotes from Trevor, the scurrilous one… 🙂

?It really didn?t seem like Vera was justified as a separate language,? Robinson said. ?It had no tools and no libraries, it had a lot of bugs, and it ran pretty slow.? Another issue was limited reporting capabilities for functional coverage. ?What took us a couple of weeks in Vera took a day in Java,? Robinson said.

I couldn’t have said it better myself! Very nice…

Searching For The Pod Of Gold

Searching For The Pod Of Gold:

This month, pioneer Adam Curry is launching a podcast network, with 30 to 50 shows that will split ad revenues. The concept won Curry a $9.8 million investment from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Sequoia Capital, two top venture firms in Silicon Valley. “We saw the amazing adoption across the Net, and it was obvious that there was a big opportunity,” says Mark Kvamme, a partner at Sequoia.

Not sure what they would do with $10M, podcasts cost close to nothing to produce, and bandwidth is relatively cheap… But KP and Sequoia are no slouch, I’m sure they’ve got great plans…

AppleInsider | PowerBook to gain iSight, iBook to go widescreen in 2006:

Following a trend that began with Apple’s new iMac desktops last month (and first predicted in this AppleInsider report), both the new 15- and 17-inch are scheduled to include a built-in iSight video camera. As is the case with the iMac, the cams will be centered in the PowerBook’s upper display bezel. The latest version of Apple’s Photo Booth application will also be included with the new PowerBooks.

Big new features include: * syncing categories from Address Book and iCal calendars/tasks with Palm categories * support for multiple addresses and other Palm database fields * contact photo syncing * folder synchronization and the syncing of iPhoto albums and iTunes playlists right from the Missing Sync interface.
