So it’s final, $1B for 5% stake huh? Am I the only one who believes there are much better ways to spend $1B? Like maybe investing into a couple hundred startups? Flickr and Delicious were much cooler than AOL… Is Google really getting too big and too lame? 😉

Ruby off the Rails
Ruby on Rails is just one facet of what makes Ruby great, just like EJB is only part of the Java? enterprise platform. Andrew Glover digs beneath the hype for a look at what Java developers can do with Ruby, all by itself.

Free SNL skid at iTMS
I just watched this on TiVo, pretty funny stuff. Now Apple is giving out free downloads at iTMS.
Viiv, Intel, and Apple
Wired News: Apple, Intel Clam Up on Macworld
So far, more than 40 technology partners have signed onto Viiv, including TiVo, which says Viiv will make it easy to transfer video recordings from digital video recorders to computers and vice versa. Movielink, which currently offers temporary, self-destructing “rental” downloads of feature films and is beta-testing purchased downloads, is also on board with Viiv. Both services exist now, but Viiv is supposed to make all its supported services play nice — plug-and-play to the nth degree.

Technorati now indexing my site *again*
I’ve noticed that Technorati has not been indexing my site, not sure why. I have WordPress setup to ping them automatically, I blog with Etco it also pings them automatically. I even went their Technorati’s site and manually ping’ed them. Nothing worked… Contacted their tech support and I’m still waiting for a reply. I ended up deleted my “claim” on my blog, waited a couple of minutes and “re-claiming” it, and now it’s being indexed again. I have no idea what happened… I hope they’d send me a reply some time today or tomorrow…

Apple reportedly is shipping 100k Nano per day
If true, this is pretty damn amazing!! I guess their ODM got the process down real well… 🙂 The 1GB Shuffles being “sold out”, and the rumors of 1GB Nanos are bad news for SigmaTel. It doesn’t look like there would be a refresh on the Shuffle, so all they would have is the 512MB Shuffle, at least until that is sold out too. 😆
In a best effort to meet demand for its top-selling iPod nano this holiday, Apple Computer is building and shipping 100,000 of the ultra-slim digital music players each day, reliable sources tell AppleInsider.

VZW International Roaming
So Sherry was able to get signals on her VZW Sammy A670 in Taipei, and she received calls just fine with caller ID. I checked VZW’s site and found this page. 69 cents a minute, not bad at all! I also found their Taiwan coverage information.
