Xanga should have private feeds…

Some of my friends are got Xanga blogs and I can’t do anything about it, I guess they got used to it and don’t wanna bother switching to something better, or maybe they dig the community features in there. But to me Xanga is lame, seriously lame… Anyway, they have RSS feeds for blogs, but for people who want a little privacy they can turn RSS feeds off. This is just dumb, to me, and I am probably not alone here, if a website doesn’t have feeds I just won’t visit, I seriously don’t have time to go to individual websites daily. So instead of having feeds on or off, Xanga should have private feeds, like Netflix and all the other sites out there, pretty much all it does is to map a URL that contains some unique key/hash/string to the actual feed, and add the ability to reset the URL… but of course Xanga is probably too dumb or won’t care enough to implement something like that… *sigh*…

btw, Sixapart launched Vox today, it seems pretty cool, and it’s def a better option than Xanga for the peeps who don’t wanna bother getting a domain or setting up a real blog with WordPress or Movable Type.

Tangerine kicks ass!

for those of us with large music libraries in iTunes and small Nano’s for workout and running, Tangerine is a must-have!! seoulfully sent me this and it kicks ass! Basically it goes through your library with some basic exclusion rules (like no classical, no podcast, etc etc, you can add your own rules), and it analyzes the BPM and beat intensity for each track in blazingly fast speed!!! Almost my entire library is lossless and it doesn’t seem to care, it goes through each track in less than a second!

TiVo Series 3 for $680

I would be really pissed if I had bought it for $800 within the past 2 weeks… I’m still holding out for HD, mostly due to laziness, plus I’m not home a lot, a SlingBox w/ OSX support would be a lot more useful to me right now, I guess I could get S3 + SlingBox Pro to stream HD…

Who: You
What: TiVo Series 3
Where: TiVo Community Store
When: Until Sunday
How: Code word TCDEAL
Why: Because $680 is better than $799

Xray sounds interesting…

Also of interest to Leopard developers is a new timeline-based performance visualization tool Apple is rolling out called Xray, which gives programmers the ability to see how their application works in a completely new and intuitive way.”It let’s you watch CPU, disk I/O, memory usage, garbage collection, events, and more in the form of graphs tied to time,” the company explained. “For example, you can track UI events in real-time and see how they affect I/O activity and CPU load at the same time. And, once the data has been collected, you can scan back and forth through your application’s run and see exactly what occurred, and when.”

2gb nano only holds 53 tracks

Well, that’s the problem with using lossless only… I guess 53 tracks are enough for running, or I can downsample some tracks, uncheck them in iTunes so they won’t get synced with my 5g 60gb pod, and add them to my nano-sync playlists…

btw, I know Shuffles sync can automatically downsample tracks, is there a way to setup my nano to auto downsample when I sync it???

Seriously fast speed from Comcast

I moved into my new condo last week and I got Comcast to come out to transfer my services to the new condo yesterday, the previous tenant never had cable installed so the stuff was never hooked up. The Comcast guy spent more than an hour hooking everything up, from hooking up the stuff in the garage to installing connectors and stripping cables in my closet where the star-network convergence point is. Maybe coz all the connections are new and clean (no rust), I’m consistently pulling around 9Mbps downstream! this is insane coz I used to live right downstairs (one floor down, same unit) and I never was able to get more than 4Mbps, never! Pretty damn happy with the speed. I am actually never home that much to use it, and I have EvDO when I’m out. I don’t do any Bittorrent stuff or anything, but it’s nice when there is a huge OSX software update or for downloading podcasts…

what the iPhone must have for me to get one…

So with the trademark registrations and stuff, iPhone is for real… well… hopefully they would release a CDMA version, but I highly doubt that given their previous relationship with Cingular… I am sorta a Apple fanboy, but for me to get one It has to have EvDO, a kickass camera, full “smartphone” features such as a real browser, a QWERTY keyboard, kickass chat-like SMS app, office apps, pdf viewer, image viewer, good email client with IMAP-SSL support, Outlook/Exchange/Scalix over-the-air sync for mails, calendars, contacts, tasks, and it would be nice to have an SDK to write my own apps (so we can have a native Google map like I can on my Treo)… I assume iSync would support it to sync with AddressBook and i{Cal,Tunes,Photo} so I probably won’t need Missing Sync anymore. I don’t care about windoze users, but to be commercially successful they would also have to support Outlook sync and what not, which is annoying coz Outlook royaly sucks.

Well, I would be really surprised if the first iPhone thinggie would satisfy all my requirements… As much as I hate how unstable my Treo 700p is, it is awesome when it works and I actually depend on it like crazy…
