Marijuana advocate plans to roll world’s biggest joint
A medical marijuana user plans to see in the New Year on an all-time high — by rolling the world’s biggest joint.
Los Angeles resident Brett Stone said he aims to usher in 2007 by building a .91-meter (three-foot) cigarette using around 112 grams of marijuana.
Stone said he was inspired to try for a record after learning that the previous biggest joint was made with 100 grams.
“I thought the world’s largest joint would have been a lot larger,”said Stone, 48, who runs the medical marijuana website dabronxnews.com.
“I think a meter (3.3 feet) would be a good, smokeable size joint,” Stone said. “I’m not looking to make a torpedo I’m looking to make a smokeable joint.”

Monokuro Boo
When you’re in Guangzhou, China it doesn’t take very long to get the feeling that Monokuro Boo, a character brand consisting of a pair of minimalist cartoon pigs (one black, one white), has just usurped Hello Kitty as the pop icon of choice for the locals. Monokuro Boo has taken over Chinese fashion accessories, umbrellas, shower caps, windshields, pillows and any other thing with a fairly flat or round surface. Three main reasons for this:
- the pigs are quite cute,
- they’re simple to draw and can therefore be drawn on anything,
- they’re simple to replicate and can therefore be pirated by anybody.
The case of Monokuro Boo in China brings up some interesting issues for minimalism in China. The art and challenge in minimalism is the representation of an object with the least amount of detail as possible. Minimalism is all about stripping something down to its fundamental core. In real world practice this usually means that while this is very difficult creative work, the physical manifestation of it is both beautiful and very easy to copy.Monokuro Boo’s tagline is “simple is best.” But… will piracy change this sentiment?

Beijing launches "one dog” policy
BEIJING (AFP)?Beijing has launched a “one dog policy” in an effort to curb a sharp rise in rabies linked to the ballooning population of unregistered canines.”Each family is permitted to raise one dog,” the government said in a statement seen Wednesday on its website announcing the new policy.”Large dogs, ferocious dogs and the unregulated raising of dogs are not allowed.””Violators of the regulations will be fined up to 5,000 yuan (640 dollars) and their pets will be taken into custody,” it said, citing regulations issued this week.
