JCB

So I got the Nizlopi CD from eBay and it arrived today, I can’t decide if I like it or not… The JCB song is probably the most popular song on the album, I don’t even know WTF a JCB is, I guess it’s like some kindda construction vehicle that is huge? I guess in the U.S. we have Caterpillar… 😉 (I know I can figure it out at wikipedia or google but believe it or not I got better things to do)…

update: I just watched the JCB video included in the CD and it’s pretty cool!

Shure E500

Shure introduced the E500, their triple-driver universal fit cans. It costs about the same as the UE-5c, which is dual-driver but a friend of mine likes it better than the UE-10 Pro. I don’t know, $500 is a lot for universal fit IEMs, custom ones will always have better isolation and be more comfortable, and they look a lot cooler. I am very interested in how the additional driver works in the E500. The UE-10 Pro gives you more bass, but the effect is very minimal. I generally like Shure’s sound signature more than that of Ety and probably UE. I’m sure the Head-fiers are very excited about yet another pair high end IEMs.

Shure unveils E500 sound isolating earphones

Shure has introduced its new high-end E500 sound isolating earphones. The E500s feature triple drivers and an innovative ?Push-to-Hear? option that lets you alternate between music isolation and the outside world by automatically activating an external microphone and muting the music.

audio still drops with Airport Express v6.3 fw

Music still drops, I’m going to pick up a router+switch with ethernet ports and do AirTunes over ethernet instead… Not sure which router to get though, there is this Linksys “Wireless-G Cable Gateway” that is a cable modem, .g AP, and ethernet switch, all-in-one… might get that coz I think Comcast will start charging me $5/month for my cable modem soon…

AE and Extreme fw update

Damn, I’m downloading this right now as I type, maybe this would fix my AE audio dropping issue, but somehow I highly doubt it, because I think the problem is microwaves interfering with the WiFi as they both use the ISM band…

The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW):

Apple and their engineers do seem to have been reading the endless posts on their support forums about dropping Airport Express audio streams and other issues. Tonight, they’ve released two firmware updates–one for the Express (v6.3) and one for the Extreme (v5.7)–that claim to address this and other issues.I’ve updated the base stations in my WDS network and the only issue I was having–dropped streaming audio–hasn’t recurred, so tentatively, I’ll say it’s been a successful update.

Microwave and WiFi

I finally figured out the cause of my WiFi dropping once in a while; microwave. When I or any of my neighbors use our super powerful GE stainless steel microwave, my WiFi deteriorate so bad that I can’t even load a web page. (and AirTunes just pauses and it might or might not resume, depending on how long it takes to cook the shit in the microwave ;))… Maybe I’ll finally get a old-fashion router+switch, my place is pre-wired, but I just didn’t feel like having a wire… switching to 802.11a isn’t really an option, having an extra pc card as bad as plugging in a cable…

Viiv, Intel, and Apple

Wired News: Apple, Intel Clam Up on Macworld

So far, more than 40 technology partners have signed onto Viiv, including TiVo, which says Viiv will make it easy to transfer video recordings from digital video recorders to computers and vice versa. Movielink, which currently offers temporary, self-destructing “rental” downloads of feature films and is beta-testing purchased downloads, is also on board with Viiv. Both services exist now, but Viiv is supposed to make all its supported services play nice — plug-and-play to the nth degree.

Apple reportedly is shipping 100k Nano per day

If true, this is pretty damn amazing!! I guess their ODM got the process down real well… 🙂 The 1GB Shuffles being “sold out”, and the rumors of 1GB Nanos are bad news for SigmaTel. It doesn’t look like there would be a refresh on the Shuffle, so all they would have is the 512MB Shuffle, at least until that is sold out too. 😆

In a best effort to meet demand for its top-selling iPod nano this holiday, Apple Computer is building and shipping 100,000 of the ultra-slim digital music players each day, reliable sources tell AppleInsider.
