Did some supershopping yesterday (i.e., shopping with SuperFuture members in San Francisco), amazing sales at Archive, Ab Fits, Bloomingdale’s (their remaining Number (N)ine stuff are 50% off now!), also went down to Self Edge to check out their new Flat Head wallets and B. Son shirts. Picked up some good shit.
This is how Washington Square looks like early morning, I caught a couple delivering newspapers. I remember we, well, she and I, used to deliver newspapers once a week in Austin, it was probably her worst job ever, but it was great time together, and believe it or not, I always looked forward to it.
Off to Seattle for work, walked Fee-Fee at around 6am and it was sorta raining, snapped a daily photo, it’s just kindda a snapshot, but I don’t want to bring my camera with me to the trip so this has to be it for today.
Also, the potential tenant for my south bay condo backed out on me, so if anyone wants to rent it let me know @ blog AT andrewng DOT com.
In November when Self Edge first opened we started about ten different projects all related to what denim actually means to us. Over the next year or so as each project comes to an end we’d like to share with everybody our stories and findings..
On November 16 2006 we gave a pair of one-wash Sugarcane 1947 jeans to a local San Francisco resident named Broox at no cost. The idea was that he’d wear the jeans for as long as they’d last and at the end, return them to us. Broox is not just any resident of this city, he chooses to live on the streets. Broox has a full time job as a chef at one of San Francisco’s best known fine dining restaurants, he has some money, he has an expensive bicycle, and a very nice camera. Yet at the end of the day he finds being tied to one home too constricting, so he’s chosen a life on the streets. He’s not addicted to drugs or alcohol, he just prefers life in the out of doors.
Over the time that Broox wore these jeans he took a few short trips around the country train hopping, slept in abandoned buildings around the Bay Area, went to shows and bars in the City, and held his usual full time job. He had them on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from November 16 2006 to July 6 2007, they were washed two times. During that period we repaired them for him once, but while on one of his trips he tore a hole in the crotch, he found some denim and patched it using a needle and mouth floss as stitching.
This was actually a hookup on Superfuture, I got a PM about possibly featuring OnMyList on Under the Radar. They finally published the article at their blog! 🙂
OnMyList is a site which allows consumers to create lists and share them with their friends. The site interface is simple and addictive. All the basic features are available: you can Digg, send, blog and subscribe via RSS to every post.
Went to MaMa’s (again) today, then hang out with Kiya at Self Edge for a bit. Drove down to the condo to sell the rest of the furniture, everything is gone now. Before we disassembled the bed I snapped today’s photo, just thought the geometric shape was interesting… and I didn’t have time to go take more pictures today.
It was less than 2 years ago when we went to Ikea to furnish the first condo, before I left I starred at the emptiness, felt strange and uneasy.
