no more sticky left shift key

I couldn’t stand the sticky left shift key anymore, so today I brought my laptop to the Genius Bar, Alex took a look at my shift key, removed the key, found some gluey stuff underneath… He used some stuff to clean it up an wala, no more sticky left shift key!! Me very happy, it’s like having a new laptop!! (I type pretty fast for those who don’t know me, a sticky shift key was very very annoying; I expect a key to jump right back up after I release it, if I hear “key popping back up sound” when I don’t expect to it annoys me greatly!!)

Alex also looked at the worn-off paint below my fn and command keys, and ordered new parts for me to replace the case around the keyboard, I’ll bring my laptop in to get that replace when the part arrives… Very nice!

2-finger scrolling working again in Tiger

So Daniel has fixed iScroll2, version 0.25 actually didn’t work out of the box for me, I emailed Daniel and he told me to try “restore to defaults”, it worked afterwards, something strange with Tiger that the settings don’t always reload after reboot… I’m gonna upgrade to 0.25e soon…

Yay, finally booked flight to London, and hotel in Paris

Will be leaving Saturday June 25th, AUS->MSP->LGW, I’m flying NWA because they can stop at MSP so I can spend some time with my folks. On the way to London I will have 22 hours in Minnesota, I will also bring Fee-Fee with me and my folks will have him for 2 weeks!! W00t (I know w00t is not a real dictionary word)! He needs a vacation too!

Paris hotels are pretty interesting, as usual I went to TripAdvisor, the top 10 ranges from $90 to $1k a night. I tried to book #4 on the list as it seems like a great deal, they replied via email that they didn’t have rooms for those days I wanted… So I ended up booking Hotel de la Porte Doree, which seems like a great deal also. We’ll see… So the plan is to meet up with Sherry in London, I should arrive on Monday morning, we’ll be in Paris June 28th to July 3rd, come back to London, and off to Oxford on July 4th for the MINI Plant Tour, my friend Ming would go there with us too, as he is a car fanatic and might even buy a MINI when he returns to KL. I’ll come back to Austin on July 9th.

NewsForge | Windows rapidly approaching desktop usability
Great article, I like this:

The improvement in Windows XP Home Edition over previous “ordinary user” versions of Windows — notably Windows ME and Windows 98 SE — is nothing short of magnificent. Once you get past the installation problems, you see a desktop that’s close enough to KDE (or Gnome) in general appearance and functionality that an experienced GNU/Linux user should only need a few hours worth of practice to make the switch.

Apple Store

Saw this pic at TUAW, I recognize the 2 guys in this pic!! They’re from Austin, one of them is a Mac Genius and another guy is one of the sales guys… I remember he was checking out my Sensa IEMs when I was there… I went to the store 5 times to replace my 4G 40GB iPod due to the HDD noise problem, the iBook also been back to the store 3 times for the mainboard problem… HEHE…
