VZW International Roaming
So Sherry was able to get signals on her VZW Sammy A670 in Taipei, and she received calls just fine with caller ID. I checked VZW’s site and found this page. 69 cents a minute, not bad at all! I also found their Taiwan coverage information.

color profiles in windoze
I can’t stand the messed up color profile on my work ThinkPad, so I looked up how I can set it to Adobe RGB… this is kindda a pain: Microsoft Windows XP – Install a color profile, while this is more promising, but the download is unavailable at the moment…
Nintendogs
Most portable devices (including Sony?s PSP) use Wi-Fi for collaborative gaming among players scattered all over the world. Nintendogs takes a more intimate approach to wireless networking, thanks to a feature called ?bark mode? that alerts DS owners when another Nintendogs player is nearby. Players can then introduce themselves to one another while their virtual pets frolic together onscreen.

Café Coton
Picked up a couple of shirts from Café Coton on Grant Ave in SF, great place for shirts. Their 100-thread-count shirts are silky smooth, while you can still machine-wash them. Now they’re doing a buy 1 get 1 half off promotion. I am going back there this weekend to exchange one of the shirts coz it turned out to be too shinny.

Christmas carols
Sherry and I were at Union Square last night. There was a huge Christmas tree there, it’s Macy’s gift to the city. There were musical performances of Christmas songs on the stage and lyrics were passed out to passers-by. It reminded me of my days in choir; the holiday concert at noon on the last day of class is Carnegie Mellon tradition. I was in Dr. Page‘s choir for 2 years and it was fun. I remember I was usually in the middle of finishing an ECE project (or 3 of them) and had to take a break, put on my tux, and hurry for that concert. I couldn’t afford the time for choir in my last 2 years when I started taking graduate level courses, it was a shame. I still managed to do piano studios and other music courses to fulfill my requirements for my music minor, but those classes were pretty easy and not all that time-consuming.
A lot of voice majors hated Dr. Page, because he always demands the best from us, and if you major in voice you’d better take his classes seriously or he could get mean. He was always kind to me though.

more quick and dirty restaurant reviews
- Koi Palace (???): Finally made it to this Chinese restaurant, right after we started driving there I got a text from Peter, a college friend, so we ended up meeting there for dim-sum. The wait was long but was worth it. Best Chinese food in bay area so far. We went there again the day after, it was that good.
- North Beach Pizza: Jen and Jonas recommended this place, so we went there for dinner on Saturday. Pretty good stuff, I still like John’s Pizzeria in NYC or Frank & Angie‘s in Austin better. I also like Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria, I get them via Waitor.com from work. Their Manhattan red clam pizza is awesome.
- Colibri – Mexican Bistro: Sherry and I was in the Union Square area Sunday night and just wandered around looking for a place to eat. This place got a Zagat decal on the window and there was no wait, so we decided to try it. Loved their prepared-to-order guacamole. The food is tapas style, but they were in pretty good sizes for tapas. Never had this kind of mexican food before, very good stuff.

Went to SF and took some pics of Jen and Jonas, he wanted some face shots for MTV Azn VJ audition. Jonas was actually the first guy I took pictures for. I haven’t had time to post-processed the pics, but here are a few I’ve done so far:
