IP change

Since ServerBeach still might have ARP problems with the primary IP of my server, I’m switching my blog hostname to use one of my secondary IPs, this should minimize possible downtime at least for the blog… I have configured Apache to listen to both IPs for now, so everything should work… Please leave me a comment to report problems…

TiVo Series 3 for $680

I would be really pissed if I had bought it for $800 within the past 2 weeks… I’m still holding out for HD, mostly due to laziness, plus I’m not home a lot, a SlingBox w/ OSX support would be a lot more useful to me right now, I guess I could get S3 + SlingBox Pro to stream HD…

Who: You
What: TiVo Series 3
Where: TiVo Community Store
When: Until Sunday
How: Code word TCDEAL
Why: Because $680 is better than $799

Xray sounds interesting…

Also of interest to Leopard developers is a new timeline-based performance visualization tool Apple is rolling out called Xray, which gives programmers the ability to see how their application works in a completely new and intuitive way.”It let’s you watch CPU, disk I/O, memory usage, garbage collection, events, and more in the form of graphs tied to time,” the company explained. “For example, you can track UI events in real-time and see how they affect I/O activity and CPU load at the same time. And, once the data has been collected, you can scan back and forth through your application’s run and see exactly what occurred, and when.”

2gb nano only holds 53 tracks

Well, that’s the problem with using lossless only… I guess 53 tracks are enough for running, or I can downsample some tracks, uncheck them in iTunes so they won’t get synced with my 5g 60gb pod, and add them to my nano-sync playlists…

btw, I know Shuffles sync can automatically downsample tracks, is there a way to setup my nano to auto downsample when I sync it???

Seriously fast speed from Comcast

I moved into my new condo last week and I got Comcast to come out to transfer my services to the new condo yesterday, the previous tenant never had cable installed so the stuff was never hooked up. The Comcast guy spent more than an hour hooking everything up, from hooking up the stuff in the garage to installing connectors and stripping cables in my closet where the star-network convergence point is. Maybe coz all the connections are new and clean (no rust), I’m consistently pulling around 9Mbps downstream! this is insane coz I used to live right downstairs (one floor down, same unit) and I never was able to get more than 4Mbps, never! Pretty damn happy with the speed. I am actually never home that much to use it, and I have EvDO when I’m out. I don’t do any Bittorrent stuff or anything, but it’s nice when there is a huge OSX software update or for downloading podcasts…

Don’t Believe the Hypebeast >> Supreme Installs Software On Site to Prevent Sales, LOL!

I recently subscribed to this feed and they’re pretty damn funny…

In an effort to make their online experience similar to that oftheir stores, skate shop Supreme has installed a new software on theirsite to prevent the sale of any product to consumers.

This new software includes a filter that blocks the user from seeingthe price, availibility or quantity of product on hand. You can tryemailing the webmasters, but they will probably to busy doing olliesand other gnarly skate tricks to get back to you.

denim update

I’ve fully retired my RRDS coz they are way too baggy for my liking, I still rock the APC NS, but maybe because I skate in them a lot, they are pretty damn baggy as well, at least around the ass… 😉 I am working on a pair of Dior Homme 19cm raw right now and I love the fit. I’m on my 2nd week with them and they’ve stretched out to a perfect fit. The stretching process was short and was nowhere as painful as the APC NS!!

I snapped some pics to document the progress on my Nudies RRDS and APC NS, the RRDS got about 3 months of actual wear, the APC has about 4 months. I haven’t wash or soak either of them. I actually bought them pretty much the same time but I had to exchange my RRDS twice to get the right size, and the 2 times took over 3 weeks, the third time I found out Kitchener actually could ship global priority (whatever the Swiss equivalent is called) and got the 2nd replacement within a few days. That’s why the APC’s got more an extra month of wear and it really shows on the denim.

Anyway, here are some pics, enjoy…

Canon Double Rebate is back

New releases like the 400D and the new 50/1.2L don’t qualify. Notice the 30D and 5D got pretty damn good rebate, which I take as a sign that their follow-on’s will be showing up real soon. That 85/1.2L II is tempting. More info here and actual PDF with all rules and restrictions here
