Self Edge X Iron Heart (SExIH) collaboration jeans

SExIH (by AndrewNg.com)

So I photographed and tried on the very first pair of the SExIH collabo jeans in indigo, these are the real thing, not the sample Damon and I tried on at the party. Even Kiya hadn’t seen them in person yet. The fit is pretty spot on like the Dior Homme 21cm, but they run small, I repeat, they run small!! I was only able to do the first button, tag size is 29 and I wear 29 in almost everything, including the Iron Heart 634S 21oz selvage jeans. Even 30w would probably take me a good while to do all the buttons. I think after an hour or 2 I should be able to do 2 buttons on these, but I didn’t feel like stretching them out coz they are not mine. 🙂

I think they are actually true to size, but the thing with the dior cuts is that you wear them much lower than regular Japanese repro jeans, so you should measure yourself an inch or 2 lower than usual and figure out your size. Well, that is my personal recommendation, we will know more when the rest of them arrive, and you can contact Kiya at Self Edge if you have questions on sizing.

I find it interesting that the crotch selvage is only on one side, unlike the Jean Shop or Kicking Mule jeans where both sides got selvage seams. Not a big deal though. All front rivets are sterling silver, but the hidden rivets are not. It’s got the good stuff you’d expect from Iron Heart, 21oz Zimbabwe cotton, it’s thick but very soft. Hems are beautifully chainstitched, the leather patch is super thick, the pocket stitching is different than the new (arcuate-less) 634S, and there is no red “W” on the side of the pocket either. A lot of us really love the Dior Homme cuts but the denim quality is not nearly as good as the Japanese denim, but now the SExIH gives you both the sexy Dior Homme silhouette and super high quality denim that is pretty much indestructible. 🙂

I took some quick snapshots for Kiya and he has posted them to Superfuture. I should also note that the stacking might appear a little bit strange in the pictures, this is because they were brand new dry denim, after a month or 2 of wear they should stack more naturally. It took me at least a month to get my Dior Homme 19cm to look good stacked…

These will be released on March 31, 2007 at Self Edge in San Francisco. They will be available in dry indigo for $380, and in black overdyed for $395. I have the Iron Heart 634S-B, which is a black overdyed version of the 634S, they are really really cool (pics). If you want a pair of black jeans you should definitely consider the SExIH01BK. More info on the SExIH from Kiya’s post:

Supershopping at Spectacles for Humans

Met up with Damon at Dimitri’s shop to check out some glasses… His store is the shit, serious. I wanted very hard to cop a pair of Mykita’s coz the screw-less design and the hinges are just freakin cool… but they look kindda overly futuristic/geeky on me… So I went with a pair of black Derome Brenner Jacky 2 in black/metallic black/white.

Damon copped the Derome Brenner Gob9 in marron métalisée.

We also made it onto Dimitri’s blog… 😀

Finally got a Loopwheeler zipup hoodie

I waited almost 10 months for the LW09’s in my desired color/size to be restocked, and then I found out about the LW81’s… after many emails and IMs I managed to get them reserved, picked up and shipped over here… Thanks a ton for those who helped me, you know who you are… I was originally going to get a LW81 in medium after seeing the measurements, but decided to go with a small, as it is designed to be very fitted and slim. It’s more of a layering piece. I’m still kindda getting used to how fitted it is, but I tried on the medium one also and it’s definitely a slight bit too loose. The fabric on the LW81 is also thinner and a lot more stretchy than my LW05 pullover hoodie and the LW09 “classic” single-zipup, which uses the same “classic” fabric as the LW05. As most of you already know, Loopwheeler zipup hoodies use YKK zippers, the LW81 has a double YKK metal zipper, it is definitely nowhere as nice as Lampo or RiRi. That is about the only thing I don’t like about this piece.

Here’s how it looks like, in today’s WAYWT photo:

Loopwheeler LW09 in stock

lw09_0702.jpg

While I don’t read Japanese, from email and PM exchanges with LW and a superfuture member, Loopwheeler stores in Japan finally re-stocked their LW09 hoodies. I have a small in black reserved. But I found out some new information from Loopwheeler over email, there is the LW81, I think that’s what we refer to as the “slim-fit” version:

<LOOPWHEELER original>
LW 09 regular type
Thickness of cloth:LW Basic
Zipper: Single, YKK
 size (cm): XS / S / M / L /  XL
Chest-width : 52.0 / 54.0 / 56.0 / 58.0 / 60.0
Body-Length : 59.0 / 61.0 / 65.0 / 69.0 / 73.0
(back center)
From neck point to sleeve end : 78.0 / 79.5 / 82.5 / 85.5 / 88.5

<LOOPWHEELER original>
LW 81 CHIBI(narrow width and short length type)
Thickness of cloth: LW Light
Zipper: Double, YKK
 size(cm): S / M / L
Chest-width : 50.0 / 54.0 / 60.0
Body-Length : 60.0 / 63.0 / 66.0
(back center)
From neck point to sleeve end : 79.5 / 82.5 / 87.0

I think I actually want a LW81 instead because it has a double zipper, and it’s slimmer and shorter. I am waiting for LW to get back to me to see if they got the LW81 in stock, if not, I will probably pickup the LW09 anyway… I’ve wanted it for a couple of months now…

so you wanna stop Rakuten email newsletters/spams?

Rakuten is a great site and if I don’t see the shit I need in the U.S. shops, or if none of them got the size I need, I usually just order directly from a Rakuten store. (and if none of the Rakuten stores that ship to U.S. got the shit I want, it becomes a problem and I would have to find a forum member doing pickup service in Japan, or use celga, juno, or spe)

Anyway, when you create an account at Rakuten they automatically subscribe you to their mailing list. There might’ve been an option to opt-out during registration but since I don’t read Japanese I didn’t want to risk checking off checkboxes I don’t understand what they were for. I just got another email and at the bottom there was a link to unsubscribe:

ishot-3.jpg

Click on that link will bring you to a page with 2 links, it looks like this:

stop_rakuten_news.jpg

Click on the second link, it will then bring you to a page with a bunch of checkboxes, don’t check or uncheck any of them, just click on the submit button at the bottom. This should unsubscribe you to their newsletters. 🙂

Peasant is sponsoring a “best of waywt” bi-weekly contest at Style Forum… not that $50 can get me much of anything from Peasant, but it’s still cool… good reason for me to continue taking my daily waywt photographs and cross-posting them to styfo… heh…

This is the official announcement of the Styleforum “Best of What are you wearing now” contest, sponsored by Peasant Online (www.peasantonline.com).

Voting will take place every two weeks. At the end of a two week period, Brian and Karissa of Peasant and I will narrow the field to 3 of our favorites, you guys will vote (the voting period will be 3 days), and the man (or woman) with the winning outfit will win $50 Peasant dollars, to be used as you wish; and the winning outfit will be featured on Peasant online. Peasant will contact the winner with details.

The first contest period started yesterday evening, and will end 12 a.m. March 5, 2007. Start posting if you haven’t all ready.

Miz on wabi-sabi and denim

Finally subscribed to another superfuture member blog, miznation, good shit… I love this:

i love going to vintage clothing stores and looking at the wear on jeans and other types of clothing. you can imagine someone young like us wearing these jeans a long time ago, having the same feelings of love, excitement, dissapointment, ambition, etc. the original wearer of the jeans are probably old now but their jeans are like a snapshot?as good as any old polaroid?of how things were, how beautiful youth is, how fleeting.

BiG offering One Wash Service (OXS)

This is VERY interesting!! Like I said in my previous posts, soaking unsanforized raw denim is a royal pain, but not all jeans are available in one-wash, so BiG now would do the soaking for you free of charge! (OXS and chainstitching for free, Self Edge gotta catch up! it has taken them a while to get that effing Union Special machine setup for some sweet chainstitch action!)

Blue In Green will now be offering a One Wash Service (OXS) for any jean we carry free of charge. The BiG OXS gets the maximum shrinkage from the jean down to the tagged size.

19cm 4 months update pics

It’s that time again, yesterday was exactly 4 months in my 19cm’s, and I had to setup the studio for another photoshoot for Self Edge, so I snapped some pics of my diors. I’ve worn these daily for 4 months except maybe 4 days where I tried out my new contrabands and 45rpm’s.

The fades actually show up better under daylight than soft studio lighting. The jeans were also not exactly evenly lid, I moved the lights around for macro shoots and was sloppy setting them back up for my personal shoot… 🙂
